Rates: $115 per night, per dog

(Check-in and check-out timing is extremely flexible, but must be scheduled in advance. Check-outs later than 12pm incur an additional night's charge.)

At Sierra Dogs, we believe that all dogs deserve to have whatever level of attention, activity, and space will keep them happy, stress-free, and healthy, so our in-home dog boarding rate includes everything your dog needs in that regard, and we will not try to up-sell you on additional “optional” or “a la carte” items.

Have More Questions?

Please read our FAQs below or Contact Us here

What should I bring with my dog when they come to stay?

Please bring plenty of your dog's regular food for their entire stay, keeping in mind that they may be quite active here. Also, bring a dog bed/blanket/crate pad from home that will smell familiar to your dog. Your dog should arrive with their regular leash, collar, and harness, plus identification. We have bowls, toys, high quality treats, and crates (if applicable); if your dog is on a restricted diet, please bring any treats they are allowed to have.

What vaccinations are required?

Dogs older than five months must be current on rabies, DAPP/DHPP, and bordetella vaccines, with written proof provided.

My puppy/dog doesn't like meeting or spending time with new dogs; can they still board with you?

Because puppies and socially appropriate adult dogs interact with one another here, we only accept dogs that enjoy the company of other dogs and are comfortable being cared for by people other than their parents. Puppies and dogs who are mildly undersocialized or fearful may still be candidates for our program; the initial evaluation will allow us to evaluate whether it's a good fit and whether we can help your dog feel safe and comfortable here. However, putting a puppy or dog into an environment which makes them uncomfortable, stressed, or afraid is the opposite of our goal, so we are careful to always do what is best for an individual dog. We will elect not to board a dog if we feel that the experience would be in any way detrimental to their behavioral or physical health.

What does a typical day look like for my dog? Where do they sleep?

Each day will vary somewhat, but will contain some mix of supervised and guided social time with other puppies and socially appropriate adult dogs, plus multiple naps and quiet time. The dogs here spend a mix of time indoors and outdoors, fully supervised, depending on weather, activity level, etc. They all sleep inside at night, and we try to mimic what you do at home, so that may be in a bedroom or on the bed, or in a crate or separate space, as appropriate. This is something we'll discuss during the initial “meet & greet” appointment.

My dog has separation anxiety, can they still board with you?

Because it is possible on any given day that there may be a short period of time (up to 2 hours) in which your dog is alone (safely crated or in a comfortable room) either while we meet with another client, or while the owner is away for a short time on an employee's day off, this is not a suitable environment for dogs with moderate to severe separation anxiety. If you have any concern or question about your dog having separation anxiety, this should be discussed at or prior to the initial introduction appointment.

How many dogs stay at one time?

That depends on the dogs! Average days have 3 to 4 dogs staying here, of which one or two are here for puppy/basic training, and the rest for regular boarding. The goal is to have a safe and harmonious group, and to be able to meet the individualized care and training needs of all dogs at all times. We will never have more dogs than we can safely handle, or can safely evacuate in the event of an emergency such as a wildfire.

Do you offer discounts for multiple dogs from the same household?

The pricing model which discounts for multiple dogs is based on the dogs sharing a kennel space in large facilities housing many, many dogs. Since we do not have kennels here, our pricing is based on providing each dog the level of care and attention they need. We are a small business which only takes a handful of dogs at a time, and we are fully booked over 90% of the year, so we are not able to offer discounts.

Happy Dogs, Happy People

“Eden is the best. Milo has been going since he was six months old, and he always comes back fitter, and better behaved, than when he left. And it makes us feel good to know that he is being so well cared for and is hanging out with buddies.“
